Cold Front Moves Through - Kicks Up Some Dust

Kingfisher disappeared off the map for a brief moment as a gust front moved through on Thursday evening, Sept. 2.  The front was moving from NW to SE and picked up plenty of dust as it approached the city.

The line of storms were originally expected to be much more severe, packing winds up to 65 mph and hail up to half dollar size.

Very little damage was reported as the storms moved through Kingfisher County.

The cold front brought with it a lot more than just some dust.  A forecast of lower temps for the next couple of days with lows in the 50's and highs in the low 80's can be expected.

Primary Elections - July 27, 2010

Approximately 60 people attended Rob Johnson's watch party throughout the evening.  Even though Rob lost Kingfisher County by only four votes, he still won the District 22 seat.  Pictured right, his dad congratulates him as they awaited the results from the last few precincts.

The other local race of interest was the three way battle for the Kingfisher County Associate District Judge.  Bob Davis ran away with 63% of the vote with a total of 2,129.  Dan Stake after running a great campaign was only able to grab 20% of the vote with a total of 678.  Sara Boeckman didn't really start campaigning until the filing deadline, but was still able to take home 17% of the vote with a total of 583.

More than 40% of registered Kingfisher County voters went to the polls to exercise their right to be heard.  This is much better than the statewide projections of a 25% voter turnout, but there is still work to be done in educating people of their responsibility to do their homework and vote.

Sweet Child O' Mine Uses Technology To Eliminate Parent's Fears

Sweet Child O' Mine Childcare Center opened for business on Monday, February 22, 2010.  The 7200 square foot state of the art facility sits at the southwest corner of Victory Lane and Medical Center Drive in Kingfisher and includes a camera monitoring system and a 452 square foot tornado safe room.

Kingfisher County Associate District Judge Candidates Speak At Noon Luncheon

The Kingfisher County Republican Women hosted the candidates for Kingfisher County Associate District Judge at their noon luncheon on Monday, July 12.

More than 60 attended the luncheon and listened to each candidate give a six minute address as to why they should be the next judge.  The order in which they spoke was determined by drawing their names from a "hat" so to speak.  After each candidate had a chance to speak, all three sat in the front of the room and the floor was opened for questions.

Harvey Bohnstedt Memorial Mud Bog

The Chisholm Trail Mud Bog in Hennessey held a special mud run on July 10 in memory of the late Harvey Bohnstedt to raise money for his family.

C.T.M.B. has been a tough bog to navigate this year.  There is a sink hole just past the entrance of the bog that snags almost every attempt to reach the 200 ft marker at the North end of the bog.  Although much work was done on the entrance since the last event held June 12, the hole at the entrance re-emerged and once again snagged the majority of the trucks at the 50 ft marker.

In response to the menace, the staff decided to run the bog from North to South instead of the normal configuration of South to North.  However, a hole in the North end of the bog yielded much the same results.

The only successful attempts made at the bog were by the 12 and under foot race and the 13 and over foot race.
